Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Pastels

Barry M Rose Hip and Sugar Apple £3.99 Each

You know spring is in the air when the pastel polishes come out! I couldn’t walk past the Barry M stand without picking these too up.

Rose Hip is a super girly pink but has a more sophisticated look to it rather than a bubble gum look. I like to wear this to work as its pretty nut not too over the top.

Sugar Apple was just a must, I’m a sucker for a mint green and this just has spring written all over it.

As much as I love these I find you need a bit of patience to apply them, with Rose Hip Especially I found the polish seemed to gather around the edge my nails but with a bit of time and two coats the end look is gorgeous.

Nails: Top 5 Summer Polishes

Chelsea Physic Garden*  Cascade Cool  Bikini So Teeny ♥ Greenberry  Peach Melba

As we are now slap bag in the middle of summer I thought it was about time to reveal my top 5 summer polishes. I'm all about bright colours at the minute but I'm particularly loving pastels, it was a tough pick but these are the ones that have come out on top.

You can’t have summer shades without a colour to match the sky and Chelsea Physic Garden is definitely the one, it’s a gorgeous pastel blue and during this recent heat wave it’s perfect to brighten up your nails.

I think I talk about Cascade Cool from Essie a lot but that’s just because I love it, a lot. I'm always reaching for this candy floss pink it looks so good when you’re wearing white or monochrome I love the pop of colour it gives.

Bikini So Teeny is perhaps the most aptly named summer polish, it’s pretty much considered a sin if you don’t get this colour out at this time of year! There are tiny flecks of glitter in this which you cant really see in the swatch but if you catch it in the sunlight is very pretty.

I am crazy about Greenberry, It’s the most striking shade and the shine finish is super pretty, I just wish it didn't chip so quickly!

There was tough competition to fill this last space but as soon as I found Peach Melba I knew I was on to a winner. This shade reminds me of a sorbet or a nice cooling ice lolly,  I quite fancy a lolly now!

What are your top summer picks? What colour is my collection lacking? I’d love some colour recommendations.

Barry M Gelly Shine: Blue Grape

Blue Grape

I can't tell you how much I adore this colour. To be honest I’ve been lusting after Essie’s Butler Please and Nails Inc Baker Street for a long time so when I heard Barry M had created a dupe I knew I had to have it.

Blue Grape Is a gorgeous royal blue shade, the colour is very intense and sure to attract a lot of attention!
I found the formula itself quite difficult to apply and it went very streaky after one coat however the second applied much easier and left me with the striking look I was after. It has a great shine to it but it does tend to chip very easily barely even making it to 2 days!

For £3.99 compared to Nails Inc’s £12 price tag this is an absolute steal.

What do you think? Have you tried any Barry M Gelly polishes?

Nails: My Top 5 Glitter Polishes

Purple Haze ♥ Glitter Top Coat ♥ Razzle Dazzle ♥ Carnival ♥ Rose Quartz

Call me a stereotypical girl but I like everything pretty and sparkly so when it comes to my nails a bit of glitter makes me feel a bit special…like a princess.

Models Own Purple Haze is a vibrant purple that I wear on my toes quite a lot, I usually use this on top of Models own’s Purple Mystique to add a bit of extra excitement but you can achieve an opaque look with 2 or 3 coats.

The 17 Glitter Top Coat is a clear polish with fine specks of glitter. This is ideal to use over any colour to add a bit of shine and to keep your nails from chipping.

I think I wore Razzle Dazzle everyday throughout the festive season; it’s the perfect deep crimson shade and I love to pair it with Damson Dream by No7.

Carnival by Technic is filled with bright bold glitter flecks that really do give your nails the wow factor. You can pretty much use this on any colour but I like using it on pastel colours or a white as it reminds me of sweets and cupcakes.

Rose Quartz by Barry M is the perfect princess polish. I generally use this on an accent nail or on my toes if I’m wearing pretty sandals, it looks great on holiday.

As much as I love all of these I HATE removing them. Removing glitter polishes is one of the things in life I hate the most, it really makes me angry, I know that’s quite sad but it really gets my goat. I have heard though you can now buy peel off base coats which makes removing the polish easy peasey so I must look into this!

Do you like using glitter on your nails? Whats your favourite glitter polish?

Nails: Barry M Green Berry

Something strange happened the weekend just gone… there was this big bright yellow thing in the sky giving out heat which hasn't been seen since last year. What is it!? Yes that right the sun made an appearance this weekend!

Although I'm still probably too early to run and grab a spot in a pub garden it’s definitely time to give my nails a bit of spring time make over.

As soon as I saw Greenberry from the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine collection I knew I needed it in my life. It’s such a unique green that certainly attracts attention, it applies so easily and it’s so shiny! It did take a while for it to dry though so be careful if you're a bit impatient like me but the end result is fab and I know I will be wearing this colour a lot throughout spring and Summer.

What do you think? Have you tried any polishes from the  Barry M Gelly collection?

Nails: Purple Passion

Fantasy Fire ♥ To Buy or not to Buy ♥ Vivid Violet ♥ Purple Mystique ♥ Berry Ice Cream

As my Case of the Blues post went down so well I thought it would be a great opportunity to create a series of my favourite polishes, today I am showcasing my passion for purple. Purple is one of my favourite colours, I love how it’s so versatile and can look great at any time of the year. These 5 are my most reached for and just the most gorgeous shades.

Fantasy Fire byMax Factor is the most beautiful colour to look at it has a gold shimmer running through it. The gold really makes the colour a bit special and looks fabulous on a night out. The only problem with this is its very sheer and takes at least 4 coats (yes I said 4!) to get an opaque finish. To be honest I usually lose interest after coat 2 but if I have the time and effort to put in it looks great.

To Buy or not to Buy was my first ever Essie polish and  think its gorge, it’s a very pale lilac with tiny flecks of glitter perfect for summer I just with the glitter was a bit more noticeable.

Vivid Violet by No7 is another great shade for all year round; I love the shiny finish it gives. Purple mystique by Models Own is probably the colour that frequents my toes the most often, I don’t know why but purple toes make me happy.

Barry M’s Berry Ice Cream was without a doubt my polish of choice in summer 2012. Pastels are essential in the sunshine and Barry M certainly knows how to work a pastel! In fact Today's winner has to be Barry M’s Berry Ice cream, wearing this again has really made me remember the good times of last summer and I can’t wait until the sunshine arrives back here in England!

Do you love a purple polish? Which one is your favourite?

Nails: A bit of Sparkle

Photobucket Photobucket
Elizabeth Street and Rose Quatz Glitter

I might sound like a stereotypical girl here but I love pink and I love glitter so this combination is absolutely perfect for me.

I picked up Elizabeth Street by Nails Inc while it was free with Glamour magazine. Ive never used Nails Inc before as they usually retail at about £11 which I never really thought that I could justify so to pick this up for just £2 is an amazing saving.

I used two coats of Elizabeth Street to get it opaque and I am SO impressed with the staying power I think it was day 4/5 when it started to chip which I thought was a miracle seeing as mine are usually off within 2 days. If the rest of the Nails Inc Polishes have the same staying power as this then i would definitely but another one.

Rose Quartz Glitter by Barry M has to be one of my favourite nail polishes I've ever had. I won this in andpeaches giveaway and as soon as I opened the parcel I was just like WOW. The glitter looks a bit like crystals which add a real touch of glamour, I have named these my Princess nails as they make me feel like I'm a princess haha is that sad? I just love looking at them and have had so many complements on them. If your a fan of glitter polish or are looking for something to glam up your look then this is the one! Barry M nail polishes are usually £2.99 so you really can't go wrong.

What do you think? Are you a fan of  adding a bit of glitter?

Mini Boots Haul

It's actually not possible for me to go into town and not buy anything from Boots. I have a problem. So here are the bits I picked up this week:

Botanics Rosewater Toning Spritz Mattifying Gel Cream Shine Away ♥ Cleansing Face Wipes

Adding to my ever growing skincare collection, the Botanics range was on 3 for 2. They have recently repackaged their products and I'm a sucker for an offer. I got these to keep at my boyfriends house so I don't have to keep taking every thing but the kitchen sink when I stay at his.

Revlon Lip butter in Creme Brulee ♥  Barry M Nail Polish Peach Melba

I'm a big fan of the Revlon Lip Butters and this is a gorgeous nude colour which is perfect for the daytime. Peach Melba makes my nails feel all summery, I'm loving pastel colours at the moment.

I also received another No7 voucher and I can't decide what to buy with it!

What did you pick up this weekend?
