Liz Earle Eye Bright

Show me a product to make my eyes look less tired and bright and I will snap it up.

The Liz Earle Eyebright is designed to wake up and revitalise eyes. It works by soaking two cotton pads and placing them over your eyes for 5 – 10 minutes to help cool refresh and de puff tired looking eyes.

I like to use this as a weekend treat while I’m enjoying a lie in as I don’t really have time during the week. It’s also great if you’re having a pamper session.

The formula is non-greasy and suitable for us contact lens wearers which is always a plus in my book, although I don’t wear my contact lenses while using this…

While I like to use this as a little treat on a Saturday morning, unfortunately I don’t class it as an essential; it doesn’t blow my mind it’s just a ‘nice’ product to have.

Liz Earle Lash Definition Mascara

Liz Earle Lash Definition Smudgeproof Mascara

I’m no stranger to Liz Earle skincare but I haven’t yet had the chance to dabble in their make up line, so where better to start than with one of my favourite make up products, mascara. I love long fluttery lashes and there are some great mascara’s you can buy on the high street that will do this but I wanted to see if a higher end brand can do a better job.

“Our unique mascara is water-resistant, flake-free andlong-lasting, and glides on smoothly to perfectly define each lash. The specially designed brush allows you to make the most of even the shortest lashes, helping to create length and definition. Enriched with natural source vitamin E.”

The Liz Earle Lash Definition Mascara is packaged in a boxwhich immediately separates in from high street mascaras. The tube itself is asleek shimmery navy colour but my favourite part of this mascara is the brush. The brush is medium sized but the bristles are small and fine which helps grab and define each lash. I have to agree it is very water resistant which is great if you get watery eyes or have unexpected tears, it definitely won’t budge.

I love the finish this gives and I’d say it’s definitely agreat day time mascara, my lashes are long and defined but there’s not too muchvolume which is what I like, I think it’s best to keep make up subtle at work.

I remove this at night with my eye make up remover followedby my Emma Hardie cleansing balm.

The Lash Definition Mascara retails at£14.50 which I really don’t think is bad considering you can end up paying about £12/£13 for a L’oreal or Max Factor mascara. If you’re looking for an introduction to higher end mascaras I think this is a great place to start.

Sunday Night Pamper Session

Sunday Essentials

There's no better feeling than putting your feet up after a mad weekend and that exactly what i'm doing tonight.

After spending the weekend at my friends in London eating, drinking and sleeping on the floor in my sleeping bag all I want to do is feel clean and have a good sleep in my own bed.

To start the huge bags under my eyes are hideous lack of sleep really does take its toll, so I soaked 2 cotton pads with Liz Earle’s Eye Bright and left them on my eyes for 10 minutes, I find this so relaxing. Next up my skin needed a mega deep clean, Emma Hardie Amazing Face Cleansing Balm, what the hell would I do without you?! I could literally feel the effects of the weekend melting off my face. I then followed this with the No7 Purifying mask just as a little extra treat for my skin; I love how soft this leaves my skin.

While I’m waiting for my boyfriend to finish work I decided to paint my toenails to, today’s choice is No7 Vivid Violet and Purple Haze by Models Own, pretty painted toenails make me feel special.

Sunday night wouldn't be complete without a cup of tea, cheeky bar of chocolate, the #bbloggers chat and an early night, gosh I sound old. Once I've gone through my photos I’ll hopefully be able to show you a few from my weekend, if you follow me on Instagram you may have already seen the delicious food I have indulged in! I can't believe its Monday already tomorrow, where does the time go!?

Recent Repurchases

Hi Guys! January has been the longest month for me money wise, trying to stretch my wages for 6 weeks has been a mammoth task so I have really tried to keep my spending to a minimum. There are a few products though that were essential for my survival. You know you love a product when you dread the thought of them running out and continue to repurchase over and over again even in the tight money months.

My first experience with the Caudalie Beauty Elixr was very love/hate, it wasn't until I actually finished the bottle I realised it was actually true love. You know that saying "You don't know what you got til its gone?" This is definitely how I feel about this and I appreciate it so much more now I have it back in my life.

This is my First full size Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm and I actually purchased it while I was half way though my trial size pot! I love, love, love it it's probably the best product that's ever happen to my skin.

Before I repurchased the Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic I tried my hardest to find a high street toner that I loved just as much, this didn't happen. This toner is so gentle and effective it really soothes my skin but if you do know of a high street dupe please let me know!

Make up wise, the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder and Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer are products that I've actually lost count of how many times I've repurchased. Its so good when you fall in love with products that don't break the bank, they both have a very safe place in my make up bag for the foreseeable future.

Today I have finally been paid! Friday and pay day is such a win it actually feels like my birthday right now. I just need to try and not go crazy and spend the majority of it in the first week. Am I the only one that finds there is too much month left at the end of the money? Happy Friday everyone.

Stars of 2012

I can't believe I'm writing this post as not too sure where 2012 has gone! Nevertheless I thought I would put together a post dedicated to those products that I have had a love affair with this year.

Skincare

Since this time last year my skincare routine has had a radical makeover, long gone are the days where I can only be bothered to use face wipes to remove my make up, oh no, I'm an absolute skincare fiend! These are the products I believe that have transformed my skin this year.

Avene Gentle Gel Cleanser. After receiving a sample size of this I've never looked back, the formula is so gentle it leaves my skin feeling great. I use this every morning and if you have oily/combination skin I cannot recommend this enough.

No7 Beautiful Skin Hot Cloth Cleanser. Who knew you could find such a fantastic high street version of Liz Earle! I am a fan of Liz Earle Cleanse and polish don't get me wrong, but this stuff works exactly the same and is bigger and cheaper. I use this every night and it removes every scrap of make up.

No7 Beautiful Skin Purifying Mask. Another No7 product but I had to include it. An essential for pampering my skin I cannot tell you how ridiculously velvety soft this leaves my skin feel, its like an exfoliator and mask in one, you really need to try it to understand the level of softness I'm talking about here. I love it, I use this about twice a week for a little skin treat.

Caudalie Beauty Elixr. A product that I was so hesitant to buy but can no longer live without. I love a multi purpose product and this is great as a toner, for setting your make up and for just giving my skin a boost through out the day.

Liz Earle Moisturiser I love this stuff, I use if every night and it really helps my skin recover while I'm sleeping. I also use this before I do my make up to go out in the evening to really prep my skin.

Make Up

As with skincare my make up routine has had a massive re vamp, priming my skin? Applying foundation with a brush? Thank goodness I found the light.

MUA Undressed Palette. An amazing alternative to the Urban Decay Naked palette. MUA eyeshadows really are among the best out there, they are so pigmented and easy to blend, I cant actually remember when I reached for another Palette.

MeMeMe Seventh Heaven Moisturising Facebase. I have tried a few different high street primers but this little pot of loveliness wins hands down. It smells delicious and holds my make up in place for the majority of my day

Max Factor Eye Brigtening Mascara. I do love a mascara and has to be my favourite of the year. Its fantastic at creating volume and length but doesn't clump, leaving you with lovely luscious lashes.

Real Techniques Buffing Brush. This has probably been the most significant change in my make up routine. I use this brush to apply my foundation and it gives a completely flawless finish. I could never go back to just applying with my fingers and if you don't own this brush, why not!!

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer. This will cover your blemishes. Fact. For £4.19 its a wonderful product that I can't live without.

Beauty Blogging Influenced Products

Oh hi bandwagon, mind if I jump on? The products above are no strangers to the blogging world and while I have always loved trying new products and buying pretty things there are a few items that I have purchased just because other bloggers say they are A-ma-zing.

Liz Earle was the first brand I discovered through blogging. I couldn’t believe how many different blogs raved over her skin care, I’d never even heard of a hot cloth cleanser before and the concept really excited me. Last Christmas my sister got me the Daily Essentials kit and I completely fell in love. My favourite product would have to be the skin repair moisturiser, I use this every night and I love how it makes my skin feel. Next I really want to try the Eyebright and Deep Cleansing Mask, any more suggestions?

Ahh the Caudalie Beauty Elixr, never have I changed my mind about a product so many times! At first I didn’t really want to like it, then I did, then I thought didn’t but at the moment I love this product, I use it after applying my foundation but before my powder and I think it gives my make up a really natural finish. I also find the scent really relaxing; it definitely has a safe place in my everyday routine.

MAC 215, Sigma f65, I’m sorry what? Make up brush numbers confuse the hell out of me I don’t know what number I need for my eyes!? Enter Real Techniques, the best value for money make up brushes ever. Fact. I adore these, the brushes are name so it’s pretty self-explanatory what they are for and they are colour coded; orange for your base, purple for eyes, and pink for a perfect finish. While these brushes are around I have no need to purchase any others.

I think beauty boxes are a great way to find new products and brands so when I heard about Glossy Box and saw some of the products people were receiving I immediately signed up. I did receive a couple of gems in my boxes including a Deborah Lippman nail polish and Burberry lipstick but after a few months I unsubscribed. I just found that half the products I received I haven’t used and I couldn’t justify spending £12 a month on sample perfumes and mini shower gels. I still enjoy reading other people received in their boxes but no product has really jumped out at me and don’t think I will be signing up to another box again soon.

I've only recently joined in on the Essie hype, after reading post after post about the colour Mint Candy Apple I kinda got a bit put off, the excitement just wasn't really there for me. However show me it a discounted price and I'm there. After purchasing some from Fragrance Direct I can see why everyone loves them, gorgeous colours and great staying power. I still haven't cracked and bought Mint Candy Apple though haha.

I'm so happy its Friday, I'm of out on the town with my friends tonight so it may get a bit messy. I have headache tablets at the ready for tomorrow morning! Bad news is I've woke up and pretty much lost my voice, this might please some but I'm feeling very sorry for myself :( 5 o'clock needs to hurry so I can finish work. I'm so close to finishing my Christmas Shopping too, just a couple of bits left for my mother and then I can rest. What are you up to this weekend?

Clash of the Hot Cloth Cleansers

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish VS Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser

Ahh the hot cloth cleanser, I know pretty much every blogger and their dog have heard of them. In fact the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish (£14.25 100ml) was one of the first things that caught my eye when I discovered blog land, so many amazing reviews, I was sold. Like the majority of beauty bloggers I am well and truly on the Liz Earle bandwagon. From the moment I unwrapped it from its beautiful packaging I knew it was love.

It has naturally active ingredients which include eucalyptus and cocoa butter for smoother, cleaner skin. I love the fact it’s all natural and I know I’m not putting anything harsh on my skin. I also really love the smell. It really smells like its doing a good job if that makes sense? Like my skin is getting a good clean after a hard days work. This removes every scrap of make up and I can go to sleep knowing my skin is fresh and clean.

So why bother with any other product? Being the working girl that I am, I have bills to pay I have food to buy and the odd social blow out to attend and sometimes these much loved products have to be sacrificed in order for me to survive.

Will a high street cleanser live up to the award winning Cleanse and Polish?

I picked up the Superdrug Vitamin E when it was on offer for the bargainous price of £2.99 which also included a muslin cloth (it’s usually about £5.99). It comes in a 200ml tube which is great because it will last me forever. The smell reminds me of cocoa butter and the product feels soft on my skin. Afterwards it leaves my skin clean and moisturised but it doesn’t leave me with that fresh, my skin is squeaky clean feeling. It does however still do a great job of removing my make up.

Which do I prefer? I have to say my favourite is still the reigning champ Liz Earle, there’s just something about it that just makes it that bit better than Vitamin E, it just has that ‘X Factor’ (cringe, I know but I’m not sure how else to explain it).

However as times are hard I will continue to purchase the Vitamin E Cleanser as its under half the price and does a pretty damn good job!

Can I also just add that I am really excited to try the Limited edition Rose and LavenderHot cloth Cleanser eeeeeek! Roll on pay day.

My Holiday Saviours

Packing a suitcase for holiday can be one of life’s most challenging tasks. I pretty much tried to fit everything including the kitchen sink into my case, taking things I might need ‘Just in case’. It turns out I completely over packed as usual but there are 4 products that I would just like to draw some attention to, ‘My Saviours’, the products I would have not survived without!

♥ Body Shop Cocoa Body Butter: I did a blog post not so long ago (link) but I need to reiterate my love for this product. I used this at the end of every day after I showered and it soothed my skin and really cooled down the patches of skin that had caught a bit more sun than others. My sister also discovered her love for this product and pretty much bathed her skin in it and now I’m running out! Re- purchasing this is a no- brainer.

♥ Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish: The old favourite! And I do love a miniature. I had been waiting for my holiday before cracking out this travel size product. I’m completely on bored the bandwagon for Liz Earle skincare, it leaves my skin feeling so fresh! I used this morning and night. I didn’t really have much make up to take off as it was just too hot to wear it but I used this just to give my skin a deep clean, after sweating most of the day I needed something to make me feel fresh and clean again and the Cleanse and Polish did just that.

♥ Riemann P20: This product is a life saver!! It’s a sun protection oil that you apply once a day to give your protection all day including if you go swimming. It does exactly what it says on the tin. I would never go away without this. I’ve taken it to America and Spain before each time I haven’t burnt at all. You need to apply this 15 minutes prior to going out into the sun to let it sink in, then your free to play out in the sun without having to worry. If you are fair skinned and tend to burn easily like me, I cannot recommend this product enough. You can but this in Boots for about £20 so pretty pricey, but if you shop around you can get it a lot cheaper, I got mine from Wilkinson’s for only £8! Bodycare and Asda also do it cheaper too.

♥ No7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser: Like I said I didn’t wear much make up on holiday but I did use a light layer of this just to cover a couple of blemishes, it also has spf 15 and uva protection so I knew my face would have that extra bit of protection. My nose is usually the first place to burn on my face and the Rudolph look really doesn’t work for anyone. I will continue to use this on hot days when foundation would usually just slide off. Great product and did exactly what I needed.

So I am home, refreshed and not burnt! What are your holiday essentials?

My Current Top 3 Toners

♥ Garnier Simply Essentials Soothing Toner

This is one of my ‘go to’ toners. It has no perfume, colourants or alcohol and contains water lily extract and Pro-vitamin B5. I use this after cleansing and it removes any last traces of makeup I may have missed. I also use it in the morning to wake my skin up. I get a slight tingling feeling when using this but I quite like it because it makes me feel like it’s working. This retails in Boots for £2.99 and is a product that I will continue to purchase.

♥ Botanics 100% Organic Rosewater Toning Spritz

I picked this up on a whim the other week as I needed a new toner to keep at my boyfriend’s house and this was on offer. I love the fact this is a spray it’s so refreshing and is going to be perfect throughout the summer to keep my skin hydrated, it also smells lovely. Its supposed to help tighten pores but to be honest I haven’t seen much of a difference. The only problem I do have with this is that it contains alcohol and usually I try to avoid it. You can also buy this in Boots for £4.99 but again there are always skincare offers on to look out for.

♥ Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic

Ahh the famous Liz Earle. I can happily say I am well and truly on the bandwagon for this product. It supposed soothe and brightens your skin, is gentle and alcohol-free. This has a lovely floral scent and it just makes me skin feel so refreshed and clean, I know I can rely on this to remove any traces of remaining makeup or dirt. I also love the fact it contains all natural ingredients which include organic aloe vera, chamomile, cucumber and natural source vitamin E so you know nothing nasty is going on your skin at all. This retails for £12.50 for 200ml and is a welcome treat to my skincare rountine.

Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser

This perfectly balanced moisturiser softens, smoothes and conditions skin for a naturally healthy-looking glow.

Every blogger and their dog have heard of Liz Earle and it's very rare you will come across a bad review of their products. For Christmas my sister bought me the Skin essential kit which also includes the famous Cleanse and Polish and Instant Boost Skin Tonic.

I loved all 3 products but for me the Skin Repair Moisturiser was the standout product (controversial I know as most people would say cleanse and polish!). I love everything about this moisturiser, It smells gorgeous and the consistency feels so creamy and luxurious it just skins into the skin leaving it feeling incredibly soft and smooth.

Its recommended you massage into face and neck, morning and night, after Instant Boost Skin Tonic. I usually use this at night as a treat for my skin and to help it repair through the night.

My skin is combination/ oily but find this works perfectly and isn't too heavy at all.

The moisturiser retails at £18.75 for a 50ml jar which really isn't bad compared to some skincare brands. It also come is a handy 15ml tube for £7.25 if you wanted a little try.

I will definitely be repurchasing this product when I run out.

Skin Oils and Serums

Before discovering the world of beauty blogging I had never really thought about putting an oil on my face. I have combination/oily skin so the thought of adding more oil seemed a bit ridiculous; no one wants an oil slick on their face.

Thankfully I have seen the light, so thought I would show you a couple of the products that have been a treat for my face.

♥ LizEarle Superskin Concentrate: I got this for Christmas as part of the Skincare Essentials kit. It helps to soften dry skin and balance combination or oily skin so perfect for me. I usually use this 2/3 times a week at night after I have cleansed and toned instead of a moisturiser. I also use this on blemishes as I have found it really helps reduce redness. In the morning my skin feels soft, doesn’t seem so oily and my blemishes are reduced. What more could I ask for? This comes in a 28ml bottle for £40.25 or £5.75 for 2ml.

♥ YSL Forever Youth Liberator Serum: This came as part of a GlossyBox a couple of months ago and I was thrilled to see it. It is designed to help increase youthful activity in skin cells. The packaging is lovely and the pipette gives you the right amount of product you need. It smells great and in the morning my skin definitely looks more luminous. I haven’t noticed if it’s made my skin more youthful, but then again I’m only young and I hope I’ve got a couple more years before I start worrying about wrinkles and signs of ageing. This retails at a whopping £60 for 30ml so I will not be purchasing this full size, but you never know if I win the lottery I might purchase some.

♥Superdrug Vitamin E Skin Oil: The cheapest of the 3 at £2.99 and I love it. I am a big fan of the Vitamin E range in general and think this product is an absolute gem. This oil is supposed to help keep skin feeling, soft, smooth and young looking. Again I can’t really comment on the ‘young looking’ part, maybe in a few years time I will give you my opinion on that. This also is for use at night after cleansing. It smells gorgeous, almost like cocoa butter, you only need a tiny amount and when I use this my skin feels so soft and smooth in the morning. For the price it’s definitely worth a try and I will definitely repurchase.

I have also been eyeing up the Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum after seeing some great reviews. Have you tried this? I would love some more recommendations.
