A Healthy Balanced Lifestyle

First of all apologies for the lack of posts recently, life has once again taken over but it’s all good.

Today I wanted to talk about a healthy lifestyle. I am always trying to be healthy and make sensible choices when it comes to food and the majority of times I am successful. However there are obviously times when things slip, I’m only human after all and for me usually the slip happens at a weekend. Whether it’s going out for a few drinks with the girls, date night with my boyfriend or just general laziness, my hard work for the week has usually been undone by Sunday night when I’m feeling horribly sluggish and stupidly sorry for myself. Then the whole cycle re starts Monday morning. I’m hoping some of you can relate to this.

Anyway to help keep me on track I have decided to create a health Instagram account to try and keep me motivated throughout the weekend and not ruin everything by eating a bag of chips that I don’t event really want. Of course I’m not going to give up all treats or stop socialising but I just want to try and make as many heathy choices as possible meaning that if I do go out for a curry Saturday night I won’t have that horrible feeling of guilt after.

The above picture is some of the yummy creations that I have been posted on my Instagram, you can find me over at Charliesprogress if you fancy a peak. I have found since starting this account that not only  has kept me more motivated but also a made bit more adventurous with what I eat so I’m not just posting the same old salad every day. I like to make my food as colourful as possible so that means as much veggies as I can pack in.

I’ve also started experimenting more with breakfasts at the weekend, hello flourless pancakes! I also have been posting my cheat meals so you can see the pizza I ate when we went for an Italian and the incredible steak from last Fridays date night.

I’m not sure if this post has been of any interest to anyone but it’s something that I have been enjoying doing lately and hopefully it might inspire some people to be a bit more creative with cooking.

Do you try to stay healthy? Is there any Instagram accounts you would recommend for motivation?

The Little Things...

My poor little blog has been recently missing in action; do you ever have times when you just lose motivation for things? I love blogging but sometimes it’s just nice to have a break not worrying that I get my post up in time. I would rather have a break rather than force a post I want happy with. Anyway here are a few pretty pictures of the little things that have been making me happy.
Krispy Kremes! So naughty but they taste every bit as good as they look
Shiny new phone!
Date night make up
Fresh flowers
Fun at Calling Festival, so immature
40% off Emma Hardie Winner!
Breakfast in Bed

I can't believe its July already, I have lots to look forward to this month including my birthday, I just hope the sun sticks around for it!

What little things have been making you happy?

Easter Bank Holiday Fun

This weekend was a bit of a crazy one for me; bank holiday mixed with your best friend’s birthday is only going to end one way, messy! Diet went completely out of the window but hey sometimes you have just got to let go and enjoy yourself so I thought I would show you a few snippets of what I got up to.
I couldn't resist these flowers; I love how bright they are.
The Easter Bunny crumpets are the hardest things ever to track down but my boyfriend did find these cute little teddy bear ones!
We were so lucky to have a bit of sunshine, not a cloud in the sky.
And here’s where it got messy. I hate shots and I hate jager but somehow always find myself doing a cheeky jager bomb or 4!
And recover. The next morning a strong Americano was needed...
...and a Goats cheese panini to soak it all up!
The nice weather was a perfect excuse to wear my pretty Primark shoes and new Topshop jeans.

Being back at work has been such a struggle, I know it’s only a four day week but I'm still convinced it’s Thursday! Hope you all had a good Easter!

The Little Things

Fresh flowers inside our pretty new jug, my house mate bought these and they really brighten up the dining room.
These shoes were just £8 from Primark, £8! I love them and think they look a lot more expensive than they are. A perfect accompaniment to my Zara Bag
Finding a New Look Voucher that you forgot you had been given for Christmas. I obviously needed something to go with my shoes.
Fresh bedding and a lie in, enough said.
Valentines day, the perfect excuse for my boyfriend and I to bake a Camembert and eat cheese like it's on of our 5 a day.

Just a little positive post for a cloudy old Monday, although I'm now kind of wishing I was back in bed with an unlimited cheese supply, oh well back to work!

What little things make you happy?

TwentyFourteen

My first post of 2014! Where the hell did 2013 go? I know they say as you get older the years fly by but seriously, where did it go!?

I’ve loved reading everyone’s 2013 blog posts the good and bad, and looking back at mine I can’t moan. The highlight most definitely being my holiday to Disneyland in Florida, it was so good so just get away and be a big kid, its somewhere I definitely want to go again in the future.

My career picked up and I got great job in events, not gonna lie this has been a lot of work but to feel I am actually getting somewhere is a good feeling.

Christmas was lovely, I was completely spoilt (check out the Michael Kors in the photo – that’s mine eeek!) and I managed to get a whole 2 weeks off! But that still wasn’t enough I really struggled getting back into the swing of things at work, thankfully I’m just about there and getting used to those early mornings again.

In 2014 I’d like to just focus on becoming a more positive person. I struggle with my emotions a lot and find it hard to say what I really feel so this year I think a bit of focus on myself is in order, is that selfish? Na, health and happiness that’s what I’m going for!

Right enough of this cheese fest, what are you hoping to achieve change this year?

Also while your here is there anything you would like to see more of on my blog? I’d like to do some more lifestyle posts but if you have any ideas let me know.

London Calling

Last weekend my house mate and I went to visit our friend in London, it was the best! I don’t think we could have fit more in if we tried, from big breakfasts, to roller discos and posh hotels! It was the perfect weekend away I needed as since starting my new job work has pretty much taken over!
We arrived on Friday night and visited a roof top cinema in Peckham Rye, I’ve never been to a roof top cinema before and I was so impressed how they had decorated it with fairy lights! We sat down in our snuggies with a burger and cider and enjoyed the delights of ‘Mamma Mia!’ haha enough said.
From the roof top we could see a car park opposite filled with people, it was a bar! Perfect.
The next morning we had to start at our favourite place ‘The Breakfast club!, check out my Mexican style breakfast, delicious!
Next we found a boat which was actually a bar right opposite the London Eye, pretty great view don’t you think?
After the boat we decided to go a bit more up market and have a bottle of wine in the Corinthia hotel, o my goodness I've never been anywhere like it, its like a completely different world. It was so beautiful and it was quite nice to have doors opened and your wine poured for you! We also decided it was the perfect time to try an oyster...when in Rome! It was weird, I’d probably try one again but it didn't blow me away.
A little sop at Shoreditch House for a cheeky bottle of prosecco!
We then headed to the roller disco; I was the only one that didn’t fall! It was actually a bit scary some people were so good they just zoomed past you nearly knocking you over!

We finished the night with a bacon sandwich and probably the best cup of tea ever, it was so badly needed!
On Sunday we headed home, after a cheeky curry on Brick Lane of course. It sounds like all we did was eat and drink... I can’t argue with that haha a great weekend with great company.

Where do you like to go in London?

The Little Things

A Lindt ball the size of my head, purchased purely for the comedy value but the chocolates inside are to die for
Camembert is my weakness at the moment, dunking crusty bread in is so indulgent and so naughty by oh so worth it!
Our cute little garden lanterns look lovely hanging up.
There's no better feeling than fresh sheets, I love a cosy bed photo
BBQ time!
My friend needed a hair model for college so I happily stepped in, looks like I'm getting married!
Night out with the boy
Posh breakfast outside

Just a quick catch up of the little things that have been making me happy lately, how nice is it that we actually have sunshine! Hope your all enjoying your Sunday.

The Weekend The Sun Came Out

As if a three day weekend wasn't enough of a treat, my boyfriend and I decided to turn it in to a Four day weekend and go and visit his family down in Kent.

I love escaping to the country, having no phone signal and just enjoying the sunshine and some relaxing time. We hiked 2 miles up hill to reach a gorgeous little country pub, a cider was definitely well earned when we got there. We passed so many pretty cottages and big houses hidden behind trees, we kept saying we would love to live then ‘when’ we win the lottery.

The majority of the weekend though was spent in the garden trying to catch some rays; my pale legs could do with some sunshine! Of course we had to make the most of the weather and have a BBQ too; it would just be rude not too.

We finished up in the evening indulging in way too much cheese and biscuits and a lovely cup of tea.

What more could you ask for from a weekend (apart from that lottery win obviously).

I'm not sure where the sun is hiding today but lets hope it makes a return for the next bank holiday.
