Nails: Models Own Mix Up

Models Own: Pink Blush and Tropical Sun

Tomorrow night I'm going out for my friends birthday and I have a lovely black dipped hem dress to wear. As the dress is black I felt I needed to add a pop of colour somewhere and it's also a good excuse to use some more of my new nail polishes!

Fist of all i just want to point out that while I was travelling my 'Pink Blush' polish leaked and that's why its all over the lid. I love how bright this colour is, it's so girly and really stands out but because I'm going out I fancied something a bit more glitzy, hence the addition of Tropical Sun!

I think this mix works really well together and think it will look great against my black dress.

What do you think?

Models Own retail at £5 and are available HERE.

And can I just say how excited I am about this Mirrorball Collection!

Hope you all have a good weekend! Xx

Max Factor Eye Brightening Mascara for Brown Eyes

Without:

After One Coat:

This weekend I picked up a new mascara to add to my ever growing collection, the Max Factor Eye Brightening Mascara for Brown Eyes.

‘Max Factor Eye Brightening Tonal Black Mascara, offers three individually designed mascaras for each eye colour. Each mascara makes their glamour statement by brightening your natural eye colour whether you have brown, blue or green eyes. At the same time the mascara gives your lashes up to 300% more volume making sure your eyes have beautiful stand out.’

Now I am a bit of a mascara addict but the main reason I picked this up is because it’s currently on offer in boots for £4.99 Instead of its usual recommended price of £7.99 (which still really isn’t bad).

I think the photos speak for themselves, after one coat I have to agree that my eyelashes are full of volume and length. Whether it brightens my natural eye colour I’m not so sure but I can forgive that as I don’t really think any make up product can brighten your eye.

The brush is quite thin but it applies the mascara with ease and doesn’t leave any clumps. For day time I only use 1 coat but this is easily buildable if you want a more dramatic look for a night out.

Overall I am impressed with this mascara, and I would definitely re purchase this. It’s currently available in Boots and Superdrug for £4.99 so what are you waiting for!?

Have you tried this mascara? Did it brighten your natural eye colour?

Sunday Funday: Trip to the Seaside!

Dress: AX Paris (sale)

Hi ladies, As some of you may know I recently went to Sorrento for my cousins wedding. This weekend was their wedding reception so everyone that couldn't make it to Italy could join in the celebrations. Luckily for me they live on the coast so a lovely trip to the seaside was in order.

Being at the seaside there was obviously a couple of things I wanted to do before i got ready, first stop, the beach! I find it so relaxing looking at the sea and although it wasn't quite the heat we had in Sorrento the weather was lovely and a great day for a party.

In the harbour there were lots of boat trips including a trip on a pirate ship and speed boat rides. I couldn’t resist the speed boat so my dad I climbed onto Sonic the speed boat,  best £4 I’ve ever spent, it was so nice being out at sea and it’s something I don’t get to do every day.

Next stop the chippie. Fish and chips always taste so much better by the sea and I don’t think you can beat it in Yorkshire with a nice cup of tea. Being a piggy I went large, oh my god I could barely move after.
The wedding reception was beautiful; it was lovely to catch up with people I hadn’t seen since Italy. Of course I was first at the buffet which was Italian themed and delicious.

Once again diet starts tomorrow...

Hope you all had a great long weekend!

TRESemme Instant Refresh

TRESemme Instant Refresh Waterless Foam shampoo 150ml £4.79

‘Give dry, frizz prone hair moisture and shine in-between washes with this unique foam shampoo. Reduces oil and odour without water, leaving hair feeling soft and clean’

I’ve never really had much luck with dry shampoo, why everyone raves over Batiste I have to clue. I hate the way it smells, feels and makes my hair look so I’m always on the lookout for something to make my hair last that little bit longer between washes.  My hair is a mixture; it can get dry at the end and oily at the roots. I usually have to wash my hair every other day, any longer and the oiliness takes over, (gross I know).

I have heard good things about TRESemme products so picked this up on a whim to give it a go. Pump 2-3 times into your hand (2 is plenty) and distribute through your hair. Wait a minute and then pat dry with a towel or use a hair dryer. Patting dry with a towel did absolutely nothing for me to I used the hair dryer instead.

I did notice a slight difference in the amount of oil at my roots but unfortunately it wasn’t the miracle I was hoping for. I will continue to use this as it’s far better than others I’ve tried but my quest will continue.
I think I might try a different approach and look for a nice clarifying shampoo as I’ve heard they are supposed to keep your hair cleaner between washes?

Do you use dry shampoo or any other products to help your hair stay cleaner for longer? I would love to know, please send me your recommendations.

L'oreal Universal Lip Glow

L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Universal Lip Glow

'L'Oréal Paris' first lipstick that adapts uniquely to the moisture of your lips to form a bespoke, individual colour. The result: a tailor-made shade of pink with a subtle finish.'

I received this lipstick from one of my friends for my birthday and it got me really excited. First of all I love the packaging, the bright pink band around the middle makes it stand out but the best part had to be the product itself as it’s transparent! I think this is a great selling point which will grab a lot of attention as there aren’t many other products like this out the at the minute.

It’s marketed as a ‘Lip Glow’ and I think this is the best way to describe it. The formula is very hydrating almost like a lip balm but not as heavy as a lipstick. It applies sheer but the colour is buildable so if you want a brighter shade, just keep layering it on.

I use it quite lightly and it gives me a gorgeous subtle hint of colour which is perfect for the day time, I have been keeping mine on my desk at work and using it throughout the day to keep my lips moisturised without looking OTT. The colour however does not have the best staying power.

This retails for £8.49 in Boots and Superdrug. I don’t think it’s a bad price but if you’re just looking for something to keep your lips hydrated throughout the day I’d probably say you’re better off just buying a tin of Vaseline or Palmers Moisturizing Lip balm as it will do a better job and save you some money too.
Overall I do like this product but it’s not something I will be raving over and probably won’t be repurchasing when it runs out.

Have you tried the L’oreal Lip Glow? Are there any similar products you would recommend?

Payday Wishlist #5

It's coming up to my favourite time of the month again...Payday! These are a couple of things I have had my eye on which I will be looking to purchase once the glorious day has arrived.

I've recently joined the Iphone team so I want a case to protect it as well as make it extremely pretty. I always want clothes and these 3 pieces are lovely. Its my friends birthday at the beginning of September so it would be rude not to treat myself to a dress for the occasion. I've heard so many good things about the Smashbox primers and as mine is getting close to the end of its life, I would love to try one of these. Who doesn't love rose gold? This necklace is so cute and there are lots more on the website I want too!

What are you planning to buy on payday?

Nails: Pinky Brown

Models Own: Pinky Brown

I have been eyeing up the Models Own Beetle Juice Collection for a while now, so when I saw a set of 3 in the ASOS sale for £7 I had to snap them up! The colour I have chosen today is Pinky Brown, and it does exactly what it says on the tin, a gorgeous bright pink with a brown shimmer to it. I absolutely love the effect and I have had quite a few nice comments around the office this morning about them which is always a bonus. The polish applies easily and it only took two coats to get the desired effect, so that’s great for me as I usually get frustrated if they need more.

The Beetle Juice Collection retail at £5 each and are available from the Models Own Website. You can also find them on ASOS and larger Boots Stores. I can’t wait to get my hands on some more colours and would definitely recommend giving them a go if you like pretty nails without much hassle.

Have you tried any Models Own Polishes before?

Happy Friday Ladies! x

Outfit Post: Wedding Guest

The main reason for my recent holiday to Sorrento was my cousins wedding, as soon as I was invited my first thought was 'Oh my god what do I wear!'

I wanted a dress which was pretty and elegant but not something that would cause me to sweat any more than I actually would when I was there (attractive, I know). I found this gorgeous dress from LOVE and unfortunately it was sold out in my size, luckily for me it was in stock on ASOS and I managed to bag a 20% off code! I am addicted to mint at the moment, it’s so summery and the pink flowers gave it that extra pop of colour which looked amazing in the sunlight. I teamed this with a cream clutch bag and sandals to finish off the look.

Dress: LOVE via ASOS
Bag: New Look
Sandals: New Look

The wedding itself was absolutely beautiful, I cried, waterproof mascara came in really handy! The ceremony was at a villa at the top of a cliff then we moved to a hotel for the reception. There was a huge buffet and we danced all night, it was also a bonus that there was an ice cream machine at the side of the dance floor! A great wedding and I wish the best of luck to Mr and Mrs J for the future.

Have you been to any weddings this year? What did you wear?

My Holiday Saviours

Packing a suitcase for holiday can be one of life’s most challenging tasks. I pretty much tried to fit everything including the kitchen sink into my case, taking things I might need ‘Just in case’. It turns out I completely over packed as usual but there are 4 products that I would just like to draw some attention to, ‘My Saviours’, the products I would have not survived without!

Body Shop Cocoa Body Butter: I did a blog post not so long ago (link) but I need to reiterate my love for this product. I used this at the end of every day after I showered and it soothed my skin and really cooled down the patches of skin that had caught a bit more sun than others. My sister also discovered her love for this product and pretty much bathed her skin in it and now I’m running out! Re- purchasing this is a no- brainer.
Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish: The old favourite! And I do love a miniature. I had been waiting for my holiday before cracking out this travel size product. I’m completely on bored the bandwagon for Liz Earle skincare, it leaves my skin feeling so fresh! I used this morning and night. I didn’t really have much make up to take off as it was just too hot to wear it but I used this just to give my skin a deep clean, after sweating most of the day I needed something to make me feel fresh and clean again and the Cleanse and Polish did just that.

Riemann P20: This product is a life saver!! It’s a sun protection oil that you apply once a day to give your protection all day including if you go swimming. It does exactly what it says on the tin. I would never go away without this. I’ve taken it to America and Spain before each time I haven’t burnt at all. You need to apply this 15 minutes prior to going out into the sun to let it sink in, then your free to play out in the sun without having to worry. If you are fair skinned and tend to burn easily like me, I cannot recommend this product enough. You can but this in Boots for about £20 so pretty pricey, but if you shop around you can get it a lot cheaper, I got mine from Wilkinson’s for only £8! Bodycare and Asda also do it cheaper too.
No7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser: Like I said I didn’t wear much make up on holiday but I did use a light layer of this just to cover a couple of blemishes, it also has spf 15 and uva protection so I knew my face would have that extra bit of protection. My nose is usually the first place to burn on my face and the Rudolph look really doesn’t work for anyone. I will continue to use this on hot days when foundation would usually just slide off. Great product and did exactly what I needed.

So I am home, refreshed and not burnt! What are your holiday essentials?

I'm baaaaack: Italy

WARNING: picture heavy

How come every week, work drags like a bitch then you go away for a week and it fly's by! I have just come back from the most incredible holiday in Italy I can't believe its over already.

My cousin got married in Sorrento, Italy so we turned it into a week long holiday. It was lovely to see so many members of my family that I haven't seen for a while and being in one of the most beautiful places made  it 100 times more special. I've decided to do a couple of posts on my holiday including outfit and make up posts but i thought id start with some of the beautiful photos I took of the scenery. I would just like to say a lot of my photos are taken on my phone as i dropped my camera at the wedding and now it turn on so I apologise that some of the photos aren't as good quality as they could have been.

We also went on a day trip to Rome which was incredible but we didn't have enough  time to see every thing. I cant describe how awesome the buildings and statues are, the time and work that went into them are just mind blowing.

The weather was perfect I could have asked for anything better, although I think I look like I could still give Casper a run for his money. An amazing holiday and I really want to go back! If you get the chance to go do it!

I hope you enjoy my photos. Have you been to Italy? Have you been away this year?
